A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday September 22, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church for Mike F. Sanchez, 79, of Roswell who passed away on September 18, 2008. A funeral mass will be held at 10a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church. Fr. Juan Montoya will officiate. A burial will follow at South Park Cemetery and military honors will be provided by Roswell Veterans Honor Guard.

Mike was born to Mike F. Sanchez and Amanda Ferrio Sanchez on November 16, 1929.

He married Edna Sanchez on August 16, 1974 in Dayton, Ohio. She survives him at the family home. He was also survived by his sons, Mike Sanchez Jr. of Ohio, Russell McDaniel of Roswell, Ronald McDaniel of Texas, and Leonard McDaniel of Ohio; Daughters, Paula Velasco and her husband Israel of Roswell, and Mary Jo Green of Florida; sister, Mary Solis of Roswell. He had a dog “Chocolate” and Cat “Goldie” that he loved very much and were a part of the family.

He was preceded in death by both parents; two daughters, Brenda Sanchez and Betty McDaniel.

Mike pallbearers will be Russell McDaniel , Matthew Torrez, Isreal Velasco, Igncio Leaton, Tony Garcia, Miguel Rodriguez.

Mike always had to have his morning donut and coffee at Mama Tuckers. His best friend was Ramon Torrez. He was on a bowling team, an usher at St. John Catholic Church and he loved to go fishing and boating in his spare time.

He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and received the Japanese Occ medal , Parachutists Badge, Good Conduct Medal and Korean SV Medal.
