Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at South Park Cemetery for Hans K. Schmid, 95, of Roswell,
who passed away October 30, 2009
Hans was born September 6, 1914, in Roswell,
to Jacob and Anna Schmid. He married Marjorie Hennessy on July 27, 1947, in Dexter.
She preceded him in death in 1998. He was also preceded in death by his parents;
three brothers, Heine, Charlie, and Roy; and two sisters, Helen Schmid Marshall
and Elizabeth Schmid.
At an early age, Hans went to work for A.D.
Jones Ranch where he learned about sheep. His next job was at the Curtis Hill Farm,
dealing with the breeding and showing of Herford Cattle. He then farmed on his own
for several years, and later worked as a serviceman for Arrow Gas.
Hans had a great love for horses, owned
and trained many in his life, and enjoyed sharing stories about them.
Hans is survived by a brother, Herbert Schmid
and his wife, Goldie; three sisters, Mary Deborde, and her husband Pete, Virginia
Brewer and her husband Sidney, and Marcie McDaniel and her husband, Clayton. He
is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and by his friend, Helen Stewart.
