On June 10, 1942, Gigi was born to Jesse Cobos and Dora Tarin Cobos in Roswell, New Mexico. Gigi was full of life, she kept busy being a homemaker, advocate bowler, pool player, arts and crafts, and spending time with her great-grandkids and family. She won many medals in the Senior Olympics Tournaments. Gigi was a cancer survivor and soon after became bowler of the year, nothing ever kept her down.
Surviving to cherish Gigi’s memory are her daughters: Rebecca “Becky” Acosta, Dora Willcox and husband, David; stepmother, Margaret Cobos; sisters: Betty Alvarez, Esther Apodaca, Terry Cobos; brothers: Carlos Cobos, Louie Cobos, Jesse Cobos and wife, Christine Cobos, Orlando Cobos and wife, Erin Cobos; grandchildren: Orlando Lawrence Melendez, Jesse Silva, Amber Silva Roman and Shaelyne Willcox; ten great grandkids; and many many nieces and nephews who all loved and respected her very much; as did the countless friends Gigi had because she never met a stranger.
Preceding Gigi in death were her husband,
Howard “Butch” Frizell; son, Jeffrey “Smiley” Silva; parents: Jesse and Dora
Cobos; and brothers: Eddie Montoya, Ernie Montoya and Cyl Cobos Sr.
Gigi’s tribute was beautifully written in her honor by her family.
