Clement Edward Hamilton II, 67, died at home in Roswell after a brief illness. He had been a resident of Roswell for the last 16 years. He was born in Concord, NH on August 27, 1947, son of the late Clement and Phyllis (Stockwell) Hamilton. He spent his youth in Tilton, NH and was a 1965 graduate of Tilton-Northfield High School and New Hampshire Technical Institute. He also studied at Keene State College and St. Anselms College.
Clem enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was a Vietnam Combat Veteran with 31 months in South East Asia (Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and the Philippines), serving honorably from 1967 to 1971. He was trained as a Flight Mechanic at Shepherd AFB in Texas. Clem was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal w/4 stars, Vietnam Service Campaign Medal w/4 stars, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Medal. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After his service, he was employed as Patrol Sergeant and Acting Chief of Police for the town of Tilton, NH and later by Belknap County DOC as Sergeant and Chief Training Officer for 25 years, retiring in 1998.
He and Sally moved to New Mexico that year, where Clem worked for the United States Federal Court of Appeals for sixteen years.
Clem was a member of the Roswell Gun Club, an Endowment Life Member of the National Rifle Association, Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, Life Member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks lodge #969, member of Post #49 American Legion in Northfield, NH, and a member of TEA Party Patriots.
His interests included fishing, soccer, UConn girls basketball, silver smithing, lapidary, and the New England Patriots.
He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Sally Ellen (Fitzgerald) Hamilton of Roswell; his mother, Phyllis Hamilton of Great Falls, MT; a son, Clement E Hamilton, III and wife Wendy of Laconia, NH; grandchildren, Brittany Leach and husband Connor of Denver, CO, Connor Hamilton and wife Julie of California and USMC; sisters, Donna Dascoulias and husband Peter of Great Falls, MT, Jackie and husband Joe of Northfield, NH, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their children.
No services, celebration, or burial per his wishes. His ashes will be scattered privately at a predetermined location. Clem was a born again Christian.
