Charles Leslie Brown

Services are scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel and Crematory for Charles Leslie Brown Sr., 93, of Roswell who passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, in Roswell.  The Rev. Jack Moriarty of Westminster Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be at 1 p.m. in Estancia. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Charlie was born April 5, 1908, in Inwood, Ontario, Canada, to Walter and Sarah Jane Pullman Brown. They preceded him in death as did two brothers, Edgar and Walter; and four sisters, Jean, Mabel, Elsie and Edna.

He married Carrie Agnes Cochran Sept. 25, 1948, in Chicago. She survives him at the family home.

Other survivors include five sons, Charles Leslie Brown Jr. and his wife, Dianne of Anaheim, Calif., Raymond John Brown and his wife, Mary Jo, of Cherry Valley, Ill., Ralph James Brown and his wife, Martha Jane, of Roswell, Peter Edgar Brown and his wife, Aliie, of Lena, Ill., and William Robert Brown and his wife, Darlene, of Lockport, Ill.

He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Charlie had been a Roswell resident since 1977 and was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. He had worked as an accountant for Swift and Company for 50 years. For 27 years, he was a member of Senior Bowling and had been Bowler of the Year twice. Charlie was also a member of the Senior Bowling Citizen Senior Olympics, winning both the gold and silver medals.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Don Keefe, Jeff Polk, Steve Cochran and Lou Armijo.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Senior Bowling League members.

Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
