Memorial services for Carroll Zane Reed, 67, of Ruidoso will be held Saturday, April 21, 2007, at 10:00 am at the First Assembly of God Church 139 El Paso Road, Ruidoso, NM. Carroll passed away Thursday, April 12, 2007, at his home surrounded by the love of his family.

Carroll was born on Dec. 21, 1939 to Pellom Hugh and Grace Gladys Howe Reed in Dexter. He attended school in Lovington. Carroll joined the Army Reserve at the age of eighteen and later joined the United States Marine Corp where he was honorably discharged in 1962. While stationed at Camp Pendleton, he met, fell in love with and married, Suzanne Moyer; she survives Carroll at the family home.

Carroll worked in the oil industry for many years in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, California, and Wyoming. At the time of his death, Carroll was the Rocky Mountain Regional Manager for Knight Oil Tools in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

Carroll was a member of the USBC, Past President of the Roswell Bowling Association, won numerous bowling awards and honors, and had bowled four 300 games. He enjoyed teaching and helping people improve their skills in the sport of bowling.

In addition to his best friend and wife, Suzanne, Carroll is survived by two sons, Kevin Lynn and Evan Lee Reed; eight grandchildren, Tasha, Jessica, Skyler, Cody, Zane, Avery, Jaydon, and Hollie; brothers, Jim, Bud, and Dee Reed; eighteen nieces and nephews; and a host of bowling and oil field friends in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, California, and Wyoming.

Carroll was preceded in death by his son, Carroll Z. Reed Jr., daughter, Deborah Samora, and his parents, Pellom and Grace Reed.
