Hazel
Savage May 15, 1933 - June 19, 2018
Have you ever known anyone who never met a stranger and made you feel
right at home when you met her? A lady that raised 5 boys and still had
hair when she passed away! That person might have been Hazel Iola Miller
Savage. She was born on May 15, 1933, in Plains, Texas, to Jesse James
Miller and Willa Mae "Chumley" Miller who have preceded her in death.
She married Kenneth R Savage Sr., November 1, 1951, in Roswell, NM. He
preceded her in death in 2010. She is joining her sisters: Lavern
Peters, Jessie Mae Hastings; brother, Leon Miller; son, James A. Savage;
and granddaughter, Kelle Savage with our Lord Jesus Christ.
She
is survived by her loving sons: Kenneth R Savage Jr. and wife, Afafe
("off-off") from Benton, AR, Steven Savage and Mary Miller of Roswell,
NM, Dennis Savage and wife, Jan of Artesia, NM, David Savage and wife,
Pam of Durant, OK and Megan Savage, wife of the late James A. Savage of
Roswell, NM.
She is survived by her brothers: William (Sam)
Miller of Alamogordo, NM, James Miller and wife, Ellonia of Arlington,
TX, Robert Miller and wife, Kathleen of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Darlene
Wyche of Roswell, NM; along with numerous grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.
Hazel was full of stories of their travels around the
world and our great country. She had lived in New Hampshire, Tennessee,
and Casa Blanca, Morocco, North Africa, to mention a few. She was on
many bowling leagues and traveled to tournaments across the country. She
was a 7- time President of the Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does, she
belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a past member of the
Berrendo Cowbelles. She always wanted to help and worked hard in
whatever she did. She helped serve a million enchiladas for the Doe’s
and went to many Grand Lodge Conventions. She definitely had a servant’s
heart.
Hazel also had a love for animals; her latest and best
friend was Lady Bug who preceded her in death as well. She had goats,
monkeys, chickens and various other animals in her lifetime but no
snakes. She and Darlene were cat ranchers as they were trying to end cat
hunger in their neighborhood. She and Darlene loved to watch RFD (Rural
Farm TV) channel on Saturday nights, especially Larry’s Country Diner.
Her last road trip was to Branson, MO, to see a live show last fall.
She lived a full life and left her imprint and legacy on those she
touched. She will be greatly missed but we will see her on the other
side.
A Memorial Service will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral
Home on Saturday, June 23, 2018, 1:00 PM. Celebrate Hazel’s life by

Hazel’s tribute was beautifully written in her
honor by her family.
