No service as a scheduled for Anita B. Head, 81, who passed away on December 26, 2008, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell, following a sudden illness.  A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Anita was born in Elkins, New Mexico, on August 20, 1927, to Burton.  "Red" Shannon and Rena Potts Shannon.  They preceded her in death as did her brother, Bert Leroy Shannon.

On March 28, 1947, she married Joe Head in Roswell.  They were a perfect pair in homemaking, work, recreation, hobbies and "In Love Forever." He survives her at the family home along with their beloved pets,  "Cherie," a miniature poodle, and "Snow," a Pomeranian.

Other survivors include three sisters, Modell Perry, and Beverly Hubbard of Maryville, Missouri, Jeannie Woolsey of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, one brother, Bill Shannon of Palmer, Alaska, and a host of good friends.

During her career she was a telephone switchboard operator in Artesia and Roswell before dial telephone.  She worked for Roswell State Bank/First Interstate bank for 32 years beginning is a check filer and retiring as vice president of customer relations.  While at the bank, she organized a group of employees and spouses to build a float sponsored by the bank for the Eastern New Mexico State Fair parade.  It was a great success winning first place.  Over the years they build approximately 17 floats and 14 were awarded "Sweepstakes".  The best float in the parade.

Anita loved craft projects and was a master of them all.  As a member of Poco Loco Miniature Club  she created many scaled models.  Probably her best-known miniature is "Noah's Ark" which is a four-foot ark with hundreds of miniature animals.  It has been displayed in many churches in Roswell, Alamogordo, and Clovis.  Her "Santa's Workshop."  Is three feet high with hundreds of miniature toys.  Both were displayed at the Roswell Museum and Art Center.

After retiring from banking, she acquired an avid interest in duplicate bridge and in a short time teamed up with her dear friend Bonnie Sorensen who predeceased her.  She continued to play bridge with other friends and partners in tournaments in Roswell and other cities until she acquired enough gold points to attain her goal of being awarded a Life Master.

Anita"s ashes will be placed in the columbarium at the First Methodist Church in Roswell
